Atleta do vôlei vira o astro dos bastidores do Brasil nas Olimpíadas

A seleção brasileira de vôlei estreia na madrugada de amanhã nos Jogos de Tóquio contra a Tunísia. Porém, mesmo sem ainda ter entrado em quadra, o time já tem pelo menos um campeão: o ponteiro Douglas Souza, 25, que virou o queridinho das redes sociais ao mostrar, de forma muito bem-humorada, os bastidores da competição.

Douglas viu o número de seguidores nas redes sociais disparar nos últimos dias. No momento, ele já soma mais de 1,4 milhão de seguidores somente no Instagram, sem contar o Twitter. E a tendência é que esse número cresça ainda mais, uma vez que os vídeos dele têm viralizado e passado a pautar conversas na internet e fora dela.

Um dos primeiros foi o vídeo em que ele apresentava os três uniformes da seleção para a competição. Fazendo poses, ele comenta de um jeito todo próprio: “Olha que gracinha”. Outro sucesso absoluto nas redes foi um desfile numa passarela imaginária em pleno treino.

Recentemente, ele também mostrou o quarto em que está hospedado na Vila Olímpica. Os destaques foram o chuveiro, baixo demais para os padrões de altura dos jogadores de vôlei, e a cama de papelão, em que ele sambou.

“Gente, vocês viram que quase quebrou a cama?”, riu. “Ainda bem que não quebrou. Deu certo. Deu para sambar, deu para quicar. Não, mentira. Mas vocês entenderam, cama super aprovada.”

Douglas fez parte do time campeão olímpico em 2016, no Rio. Na ocasião, era coadjuvante e disputava posição com Lucarelli e Maurício Borges, seu companheiro de quarto, apelidado de “Jorge”.

O ponteiro se destacou quando os dois colegas se lesionaram, e ele pôde mostrar um pouco mais do próprio talento. Foi um dos destaques do time que ganhou a medalha de prata no Mundial de 2018. “Eu sou a prova viva de que um LGBT pode jogar no alto nível, como um hétero”, afirmou o jogador, homossexual assumido.

“Eu nunca me escondi para ninguém”, disse. “Em todo clube com quem assinei, a diretoria sabia, os atletas sabiam. No meu dia a dia não muda absolutamente nada. Estou aqui a trabalho.”
